Desserts & Dragons was selected to be the March Pick for Your Paper Quest, an indie subscription box that includes 2 books each month.

It's such an honor to be spotlighted like this and to have my cozy fantasy reach new readers. Sometimes it feels like the same 10 books are being pushed by Big Publishing, and that really narrows the scope of reading when there are SO many phenomenal books being put out each year by authors who are doing it all themselves. I think "indie" gets a bad rap sometimes, that maybe it's low-quality because it wasn't "chosen" to be published. But the truth is, a lot of authors, like me, don't want to hold our breath hoping that someone bets their lunch that my book from an unknown debut author will win the publishing lottery. The process also takes years, and some literary waves don't have time for that.

This is especially true for cozy fantasy, a relatively new genre that is still trying to define itself. The great thing is that early writers like myself get to define the genre, not a group of corporate publishers. I guarantee most of your favorite cozy authors are, or started out, self-publishing their cozy book. Legends & Lattes, Can't Spell Treason Without Tea, A Rival Most Vial, to name a few. All phenomenal books.
